Meet Courts
My name is Courts Karoubas, and I am an Occupational Therapist with over 20 years’ experience working within complex, multidisciplinary care teams.
I have a strong and genuine interest in supporting individuals with multiple co-existing diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability.
I am deeply committed to ensuring that people are supported to achieve the best possible quality of life each day, rather than merely surviving within the current service systems available to them.
Given the intricate and often interdependent support needs experienced by individuals with complex diagnoses, I firmly believe that co-regulatory caregiver education and collaborative, values-aligned care teams are fundamental to a meaningful and sustainable quality of life.
Therefore in addition to my work as an OT, it is my passionate vision to build a community of like-minded allied health professionals and disability support providers who share a commitment to client-focused, ethical, and values-driven practice.
This wonderful work we do requires depth of clinical reasoning, persistence, and a commitment to seeing the whole person beyond systems and labels.

Assessment and Intervention
OT Detectives provides community based occupational therapy assessment and intervention services to adults who have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability or any diagnoses that require sensory processing intervention and support.
It is an incredible privilege to draw on decades of occupational therapy experience to translate the functional impact of a person's disability into clearly presented information that helps the reader understand the supports a person requires to live with dignity, safety, choice, and the greatest possible quality of life.
However, this work is far more than just completing assessments and reports. It is about taking the time to truly understand how a person experiences their world, recognising both the strengths and the barriers they encounter, and ensuring their support needs and personal wishes are understood accurately, respectfully, and with clinical integrity.

Clients with multiple co-existing disability support needs often require collaborative, frequently trans-disciplinary, care which must be delivered across multiple environments.
However, in practice, many clients experience high turnover of support workers and allied health practitioners. This is commonly driven by funding limitations that restrict support ratios, alongside the cumulative impact of workforce overwhelm and burnout. These pressures are further compounded by limited access to high-quality, evidence-based education and clinical mentoring, reducing opportunities for teams to build confidence, skill, and consistency over time.
